getting bought out

Postby bklynrenter » Mon Oct 18, 2004 3:35 pm

Hi-

I have a rent stabilized place, and I'm wondering if it's possible to approach my landlady to ask if she'd like to buy me out. I'm paying 830 in rent--for a very large one bedroom--and the landlady has been renovating apts lately. She turned the same one bedroom I have into a two bedroom below me, and is charging 1300 or so for it. She's also renovating the basement into apts.

Clearly, she wants to cash in on the high market rents she can fetch for her apts in Clinton Hill. Is it advisable to ask if she wants to buy me out, and if so, how much should I ask for?
