Landlord disclosing credit report info

Postby NHURST » Thu Sep 21, 2006 10:18 am

My wife and I are sub-leasing our apartment to another person and our landlord told us that the incoming tenant had a bankruptcy on her credit report. We were wondering if the landlord disclosing this to us was in anyway illegal with out first getting the permission of the incoming tenant? And wither or not we should report this? Any info would be helpful.

Thanks, Nick

Unless the LL or his agent specifically promised not to share this information then he's probably not in violation of any laws.

If the subtenant doesn't meet the landlord's financial guidelines because the subtant has a hankrupcy then denying this person a sublet wouldn't seem "unreasonable."
