Apartment Application

Postby mjr203 » Tue Jun 18, 2002 9:08 am

What can or cannot a LL ask for on a rental application (it's a RS apt)?

On an app I have they requrest credit card information (accts). Won't they get whatever info they need during the credit check? Why do I need to give #s to them?

I would imagine they can ask for any financial information they please. Whether or not you give it to them is up to you. Of course not giving them this information won't help your chances of getting an apartment from this particular realtor.

Yes any relevant information concerning your payment history with credit cards should be covered by the credit report but these reports don't always include all of your finances.

Of course it never hurts to get a credit report before you go apartment hunting. That way you can clear up any errors and know what information realtors are going to receive..

I asked their rep about it and he said it wasn't necessary to give the info. My point essentially was you're gonna get any relevant data off the CR so why do you need this? He said I was correct.

So it's all good

My credit is fine anyhow.
