It's May 19th. Rent regulation expires June 15th. Not a peep has been heard about it for the Governor or State Senate.
Last time around, they loudly exclaimed they were going to kill rent regulation months in advance, only to cave in at the last moment in the face of a looming election. This time around, are they going to keep their mouths shut, maybe create some distractions, and try to let the regulations die quietly? Especially now, since Pataki doesn't face an election for over three years. Now would be the time to inflict the pain, hoping it will be forgotten by 2006.
