Direct Deposit

Postby sailkyc » Wed Oct 28, 2009 4:24 pm

My new landlord demands that we pay him rent by direct deposit each month. He won't accept personal checks, he won't accept a check from our bank, and he won't accept a wire transfer.

Can anyone advise me on how I can actually pay him by direct deposit. Neither Chase nor Citi Bank allow you to directly transfer funds from your account to someone else's account. They'll send a check as an automatic payment, but that doesn't help me.

Is it even legal for him to make this demand? It's stipulated in an addendum to our lease, but it doesn't provide any specifics on how to go about it. At the time we thought, how hard can it be? But now it seems the only way to do it is to go to his bank in person each month and deposit the money. It's a big nuisance and seems a bit ridiculous.

Any help?

thanks!
