Community Mediation? Anyone done it?

I've going to a Community Mediation under the Safe Horizons thingy through the criminal courts because of being accosted by the guys downstairs. The LL as well as these guys are supposed to be there.
Has anyone been to these mediations? What are they like? I should bring all documentation of incident, right? But there's also code violations and other stuff I can document with pix, etc. And, should I get a lawyer to go with me? Is the mediation laid back? Do they have any power, does the moderator make suggestions, or what?
If interested, this refers to my earlier posting "violence and feeling pushed out" or "violence from commercial tenant." Any thoughts or info, much appreciated.
