: HUD's new guidelines state 2 adult people for every bedroom is max capacity that landlord must allow. Infants (under 12months) constitute the exceptions. Children from 1year old up to 18 years old have varying bedroom guidlines. In the end the landlord can throw you all out. Why not approach the LL upfront and ask for a lease for your sister on same terms you got and negotiate from there. The LL might be happy not to have to search for a new tenant or screen the many people who will want to lease.
