I am renting an apartment in New York City (started in June) and since then I have had a number of problems. My landlord has begun construction on an entire new floor on top of the existing top floor, telling us that he is just 'repairing the roof.' Also, the elevator, refrigerator, and other appliances are always breaking down, and the roof leaks whenever it rains. What can/should I do, and is there a way that I can break the lease? Thank you.
