: I've lived in my NY City rent stabalized apartment for 20 years. My landlord has obtained a loan to gut renovate the building which has 20 units, only 4 of which are currently occupied. Can he evict me without paying my or finding me a new apartment for the same money? Do I have any rights? Should I hire a lawyer, which is prohibitivly expensive?
Hire a lwayer//////// i had to pay $1500 for a retainer to see if my apt is stabilized or not
.......you should have plenty of money saved if you have had your rent stabilized for 20 years
and spend lots of time researching cases here on tenant net
and the New York Law Journal
get to work......quit being lazy,,,,, if your apartment is important
then no partying no reckless trips to the bahamas.... tighten your
belt... and pay the damn lawyer......
