If the lease limit occupancy then that portion of the lease is illegal. If the lease mention raising the rent for addition occupant then he might be able to renew you....Otherwise he'll have to wait till renewal time. At renewal time however the landlord can raise you....

: I live in a 2 bedroom non-controlled/stablized 4-unit building in Brooklyn. My roommate recently married and we'd like her husband to move in to finish out the remainder of our lease, which extends through July 2001. Our landlord said she would consider letting a third person move in but would probably want to raise the rent. Can she do that?
