You are under no obligation to "remind" him to pick up the rent. Rent is due on the pre-determined date of the month, period. I can't imagine a landlord "forgetting" to collect rent, and even if it were to happen, the rent is still owed.

I would question your landlord's judgement to decide to collect rent by appointment from you in person. But, that's his problem. Just get a receipt, and this is a non-issue.
