Lease Renewal of a lapsed lease

Postby cotanicole » Thu Jan 08, 2004 4:10 pm

Any who can offer advice-it is sincerely appreciated!

I signed a one year lease on an apt. Last year when it came time for a renewal the landlord never had me resign. I did nothing until I found out that my buidling is technically rent stabilized. The LL had applied for deregulation and then was denied. At the advice of the DHCR I filed an Overcharge complaint and a Failure to Renew Lease complaint. Now that the LL has found out he says he's raising my rent $300. the original lease date ends at the end of this month. But remember it expired a year ago. What are my rights. Do I have to sign a lease to stay and how long do I have to do that. Does the fact that I filed the complaint by me any time seeing that the legal rent and status of the buidling is in limbo and has yet to be determined.?

Help? Please?
