Tenancy rights

Postby StevieBnNYC » Thu Jan 01, 2004 2:29 pm

I'm wanting to stay in my rent stabalized apt and the prime tenant is willing to turn the lease over to me, but I don't know how to go about doing that.

In response to the Lease-Sublease conversion...if I start paying the rent to the Landlord directly, rather than paying through the prime tenant, would taht establish some tenancy rights? That way, it would be rent checks paid to the landlord on my checking account for rent on that particular residence. Is that enough to establish some tenancy rights, so that when the prime tenants lease is up, it would be easier to establish my lease on the apt? Is there a website or someone I can call and talk more about this?
