sudden change to rental terms and conditions - no sheds

Postby p » Sun May 19, 2002 7:10 pm

I've been living in the same rental apartment for a few years now.
Recently I bought a $350 shed and put it up in the patio to house my tools.
As a result, my patio is much neater. But, my landlord contacted me and told me I can not have a shed in my patio and that I must remove it ASAP.
If there is no stipulation regarding furniture or sheds in my patio, can she require I remove it now?
Thank you very much for your assistance.

I'm a new yorker but I suggest...
Check your lease. Does it have a clause requiring LL's permission before making any alterations to property etc. If there is one, then yes they have the right as you did not request permission before adding shed.
If there is no clause and you are not violating any zoning, health, safety laws then you may have a leg to stand on.

Best of Luck!
