LL/TN aid for the elderly

Postby Nick » Mon Apr 15, 2002 12:15 pm

Are there any organizations prividing legal assistance to the elderly on issues relating to NYC rent-regulated apartments? I recently did some volunteer work for a senior who I believe is being overcharged for her rent-controlled apartment. I would like to direct her to an organization that could assist here in determinig if she's being overcharged, and if so, assist her in obtaining a rent reduction.

There are several organizations providing legal assistance to seniors on housing issues. You may want to contact the West Side Federation for Senior Housing or the various legal assistance organizations (Legal Aid, MFY, etc) may be able to give you a list.
