management won't return calls

Postby jcn » Thu May 09, 2002 4:48 pm

I live in a rent stabilized apt. in manhattan. I need to break my lease and am trying to be upfront about it with managment. I have placed MANY calls over the last two weeks and am not getting my calls returned. at one point I was told 30 days notice should be okay, but they had to check with the lawyers. two weeks have now gone by and still no word. I continue to leave multiple messages each day and really need an answer.

What options do I have?

How about sending a registered/return receipt letter or some other method to prove that you contacted them (ie fedex?)

If you do get them on the phone, be sure to tape the conversation.
Keep in mind that I am a tenant. Not a lawyer!!!!!
