Bedbug Disclosure Form

Postby jeiwli » Wed Dec 08, 2021 9:10 am

Hey all,

My girlfriend and I are about to sign a lease on a great place in Upper East Side. Our broker notified us recently that a unit on the first floor (we would be on the 4th in a walk up) on a separate line had a bed bug issue contained to that unit 5 months ago. They contained it to the unit and treated that unit and the others on that floor and all units one and two floors above it. The unit we are looking at (and others above) were looked at and not treated.applinked

We are going to meet the property manager on Thursday and likely signing that day or Friday. The property manager treats for bugs once a month as a preventative measure and we are asking to see the full report from the incident and the most recent treatment. Assuming all goes well, what should we do about this place? We really like the place, but what do you all think?

Thanks

Bedbugs can easily spread throughout a building, although 4 floors might take some time. There's plenty of information on the web as to how they spread. No apartment is spared, even in luxury buildings. You can bring bedbugs in yourself unknowingly.

When LLs "treat" for bugs, it's often a joke. Some guy comes in, squirts bug spray a few times and then leaves. Doesn't do much and you can do a lot better.
