Here's the legal documentation related to the NYS Attorney General's investigation and action against Eviction Specialist Michel Pimienta. For those curious to gain insights into what such work entails and some examples of how tenants' are harassed and their rights violated, this document may prove useful:

Adding to the helpful information posted by Sky, here's a link to the website for Pimienta's company, Misidor, as it stood in 2014 before the company took it down: https://web.archive.org/web/20140118054 ... sidor.com/

Provides examples of "projects" they've worked on, services they offered, etc. Interesting reading.

A number of tenant attorneys advertise on this site. See the top of this page, reload for different ads, and also see the home page. Some will offer free or low-cost consultation (ask them). If you do call any of them, please tell them where you saw their ad.

Seeking a recommendation for an investigation agency. I've been recommended Harlin Parker from a couple of different sources, but he only works for attorneys. Wouldn't even give me a recommendation for PI's who I could hire. If anyone has had good experiences and/or knowledge of a competent investigative agency--one which has actual NYPD's in employ, I would appreciate the info. Thank-you in advance

I'd tell you if I knew, but I don't really know, and I've not heard of Harlin. Many tenant attorneys will be able to recommend PI's, but of course they have their own financial arrangements. Of course it's better if you shop around. I'm sure somewhere there are pages on the web that describe how PIs work and what to make sure is in any agreement. See if there are any professional organizations that advocate for professional standards of PI's. Also, see if there are any license requirements.

I asked a friend about this. There are different types of PIs or Private Detectives. Some just serve legal process for court cases. Others do real investigative work. There is a professional association - see https://www.aldonys.org/ - and make sure anyone you hire is licensed and bonded.
