Tenant Data Verification Co.- can they see housing cases?

Postby ebesan » Sat Aug 02, 2008 1:09 pm

I'm being checked for a new lease.
will they be able to see a past case where I was in Housing Court?
Can I get it blocked?

Are you a current rent stabilized tenant? Is this a renewal lease, or are you applying to live in a new place?

If you're rent stab, how are you being forced out?

Yes.

Can I get it blocked?

No. You could have dealt with this as part of the way the Housing Court case was settled.

If you're rent stab, how are you being forced out?

Well, PUSHED out.
1. Past due on rent.
2. Lease not being renewed to allow "family member" to move in (!).
1 is easy to settle. 2 can be fought. Appreciate helpful ideas on both.

Other option is to sign new lease elsewhere. A better deal, but my past court date (settled) will show up? Any way to block this?

If it was settled, it shouldn't be on the so-called "blacklist." See the Blacklist thread in the Reference section (link above).

thank you.
I cannot find the link in References.
Question: "blacklist". Is the blacklist cases where the judgement has gone AGAINST the tenant?
But if it was settled, would there be a public record?
Can I go to Queens Court and find out?

Go to the Reference section and look in the Blacklisting thread. Of course you can find it.
