Free Legal Services

Postby JustinMasters28 » Wed May 10, 2023 1:21 pm

Does anyone happen to have any suggestions regarding how to find free legal services for those who have low income - specifically if it is far long after the first court appearance?

I've noticed many of the free legal aid services only accept new cases and/or begin at the first court appearance.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions and/or references.

Thanks

HRA OCJ Tenant Legal Services Providers (January 2021).pdf

Start with the attached list of legal providers. This is from 2021 and I don't know if there are changes since then.

Any legal services will depend on a tenant's household income, and they might require proof of income.

Also be aware that as we're still in the post-COVID world, there is much demand for Right-to-Counsel attorneys. There just isn't enough and we know many tenants are going without the help they need. So you must be persistent. As far as I know, there isn't a single place to apply for help, or a central clearing house ... you must call as many as you can.
