..... I realize that in order for a tenant to win, it has to look like you were duped. If the Judge percieves
that you had any "red flags", or warnings that the rental arringment might be
illegal, then you have a big hurdle to overcome...You still might win, but no triple
damages, or no free rent, etc.

In My case we were from Connecticut, and never rented an apartment in New York City.
