Both rent control AND rent stabilization laws expire at the city levelin 2000. The state enabling legislation goes to 2003, but the citymust renew it as well. The state enables the system and localmunicipalities must opt in through a local law for both RC and RS. We'reaware of the initiative you mentioned and we know the players behind it.These are the same bozos that paraded around Albany in 1997 claimingvictory while tenants suffered their largest defeat. Our advice isto steer clear of this group.
