Thank You for all of your responses - I just have one other question / scenario
What if I withhold rent until he takes me to court & then counter sue him?
Has anyone tried this approach or know anything that might help ? Thanks A Lot!!!

Please Help !! I live in a bldg. on Staten Island w/ approx. 11 apts. in it.
: (No prior problems w/ Building or Management, the bldg. is brand new)
: (1 year old) 6 of these apts.
: were robbed 2 weeks ago (Same day). As per the Detective on the case
: none of the apts. had any sign of forced entry & whoever came in probably had
: keys . All of the apts. have the same locks , 2 locks including a dead bolt,
: which were installed by management, they hold the Master Keys.
: My question is can the landlord be held financially responsible for the
: theft ? He admitted that someone had to have gotten a hold of either
: his or the supers key but doesn't know who. He then precede to have all of the cylinders (locks)
: in the bldg. changed (Isn't he admitting fault ??)
: I have no renters Insurance & had approx.
: $3,000 worth of Jewelry & small electronics taken. I do not know
: anyone else in the bldg. since I have only lived there a short period of time.
: Any advice on possibly suing or withholding rent would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
