: : Five years ago the apt. building in which I live, in Western New York, was sold. The landlord who sold the building never paid me the interest on my security deposit. Is there any way to collect this from him?

New York law requires the seller to turn over the security deposit, with interest, to the purchaser. You should ask the present owner for the interest, and make it his/her problem to get it from the previous owner. If that doesn't get results, contact the Attorney General's office to help you.
