What matters is if your apartment is stabilized. You can find that
out by calling the Freedom of information law (FOIL) unit at DHCR.
They just sent it to me in the mail when i requested it over the phone
sending methe whole rent history for my apartment. i was told by RGB that
my building was rent stabilized, but that had no record for my apartment.
If you are stabilized contine to pay the rent sign nothing with the landlord, file a complaint
with dhcr. Try and hire a lawyer it helps, becuase my landlord dragged me into court
for a non-paynment proceeding when i filed the dhcr complaint. i read thats
typical.

: I signed a lease in Feb. '92 which has never been renewed nor has the rent increased. I just got a letter from the landlord (not notorized) that my rent will be increased 15%. However, no lease was included with the letter. My building is rent stabilized, but does that mean that my individual unit is protected? (it is one of 8 in the bldg.). I do not have a copy of the original lease to refer to. Any suggestions?
