The reasons why I think tenants need rent stabilized apartments in NYC

Posted by satori on February 05, 1999 at 04:54:14:

I actually, sort of sensed it for some time for the past 16 years I
have lived here. Theres some sort of corruption so deep in the
system, that most cannot even see it, and those that do see
the corruption , they know how to take advantage of those
that don't . Hense, thats why regulations were battled over
between landlord and tenat sense 1909.The sad fact of the matter
is that in a city like New York if you don't have stabilized
housing. Every goon will come out of his shell, and
stomp on those that are not radicals, the enlightened, or lawyers.
.Or worse the politicians who benefit by cold hard cash
by the whole system of corruption. If there are not regulations
to stop this the landlords have and will continue to use not a rule
of law or reason to obtain more rent. But , they have
and theywill resort to the the injustices of extortion, and
more..., just read the last Village Voice artice.about some nut, landlord
for years made deals with thugs to beat up and bother tenants.
TRis is not a rare occurence it has been happening sense the
beginning og the world, and will continue to happen in a viscious
cycle in the future unless there are rent regulations on housing
