Full month's rent for 6 days?

Posted by Pat Seguin on January 28, 1999 at 19:01:01:

I'm currently in dispute with my current landlord (who isn't?). I gave her
over 30 days notice that I'd be moving out on February 6th. I have no lease
and am on a month-to-month basis. I told her to use my security deposit for my
last month's rent and I'd pay her for the 6 days in February. Naturally,
she was outraged because she never intended to return my deposit. I have no
intention of giving her my money and end up having to sue her later. Not
only does she want January's rent, but she wants FULL rent for the 6 days
in February. I already sent her a check for $66.67 for $325/28*6. To me,
this seems outrageous. Does she have any justification for demanding a full
month's rent for 6 days?
