I am not familiar with the law, but I think there may well be a certain legal limit on the number of people who are allowed to live in a certain space. I have heard of this exact case before, where a landlord attempted to evict a family after a baby was born, on the same grounds as your landlord claims. It that case, it turned out that the law doesn't count a baby less than 12 months old as a person. So if you have, say, four
adults and an 8 month old baby, that's four people, not five.
If I was in your situation I would call some landlord-tenant attorneys and ask for a free consultation. The odds are that you can prevent an immediate eviction. That would give you time to get out of that residence, which you should do as soon as possible.
