My roommate and I were subletting a rent-controlled apartment. The landlord contacted us and cut a deal to give us the apt. in return for us helping him evict the legal tenant. I refused to testify in court because it was unfair and he gave the apartment to my roommate and evicted me. Isn't this illegal?
