The current state of the law is that there is no restriction on the amount that a tenant may charge roommates. Therefore, all you can do is try to negotiate a more reasonable settlement. Besides the moral and equity arguments, your strongest leverage is the threat to move out and live somewhere else.

: I live in an apartment with 2 other people, one of them the leaseholder,
: where the estimated value of the apartment is 12-1300. My other roommate
