:IF you are renting a single family home or a duplex it is custom that the renter does the light general yard work, (grass cutting, leaf raking, leaf removal), and the snow removal. This is especially true in the cases where no written lease exists. I suggest that you handle those chores by yourself. Also get a written lease kit (available at places like Office Depot, Staples, Office Max, etc) and write up your own proposed lease. Present it to the lanlord about 91 days before the anniversary of your verbal lease as a proposal for him/her to consider and comment on. You need to keep negotiating until you come to an agreement on a written lease that both parties agree to sign and live up to.
