The other night I heard someone on my fire escape joking ,and talking,
I had just woken up and did not take it that seriously but I called
the police anyway.Well anyway, I noticed , when i first moved in the
building 1 and a half years ago that there was barbed wire, next , to
the wall that was built later , then the building was here. But, when I just checked
the barbared wire was gone, also,theres no latter fire latter that can go to
the ground from the fire escape.HPD of couse says the grafatti, and the
fact of having no fire latter is a violation, but , there this code they
quoted fire code section 27.380, which basically makes it legal for
anyone to build a wall next to a fire escape, and thus make it
just up the the landlords discretion as to wheather or not he wants
to provide security, for the tenants, I was told by a higher up
that this has been going on sense 1969, the erosion of reasonable codes.
I think this is absurd to cause people to live in terror, so they can
provide security and thus justify jacking the rents , to me this , is
just legal extortion.
