Early Lease termination

Posted by DN on December 07, 1999 at 12:13:55:

I rent an apt in new hampshire and I have to move to oregon for a new job. Now my landlord says,
I not only have to pay a fine for breaking the lease but also keep paying the rent till its rented to
someone else. I also had this 60-day clause which states that "the lessee can terminate the
lease at the end of any given month if a full 60-day notice has been given with a $700 deposit".
What's screwy about this clause is, it can only end on the end of the month (not in the middle),
and I will have to wait till the end of the month to give the notice.
Now, this landlord surely knows how to keep people from paying the rent, even if they no longer
live there. Is there any easier way out ??
Regards..
