For approx. 3 months now management have requested on several
occasions that I grant them access to my apartment for inspection.
They have stipulated that access must be available between 8am
and 4pm. I have explained to management that I have recently
started a new job and CANNOT take time out from work because
i am involved in a training program and to take time out could
result in my losing this position.
I tried on several occasions to work with management by offering
to grant access at 4:15pm (the earliest time I can be home).
Their answer..."we close at 4:00pm!"
I then offered to give my keys to my Housing Assistant but she
refused telling me to give it to a neighbor.(There is nobody in
my houseing development who i maintain this type of relationship with.)
Today i recieved a notice telling me that my record of tenancy
has been forwarded to the Office of the Tenancy Administration for
review and i will recieve further notice on their decision in
regards to eviction.
Is this legal? I feel that I have given the Housing Authority
"reasonable" options and they have been unwilling to work
What are my rights? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. NYC Housing Authority has also informed me that in early
January 2000 i will also have to grant them 8 days of access
from 8am to 4pm in order that they may check for asbestos and
refurbish my bathroom.
How many days do they want me to take from work. Between
cleaning my exaust(1 day), apartment inspection (1 day) and
work sceduled in January 2000(8 days) thats my two weeks
