The landlord can evict you for any reason or no reason as long as the reason is not one of the forbidden discriminatory ones (race, gender, etc). Search this forum for 'month to month' tenant or 'no lease' or '30 day notice' for more information about what the NYS laws require landlords to do to evict you. Hint: 'get out' is insufficient.
