:If my landlord starts the eviction process, how will that make me look to other
landlords. What will people know about me.... What if I want to buy a house? Will
everyone know? Can it stand in the way of renting or buying a place?

: I live in Brooklyn, NY and I have a rental in a Co-op.

If you mean you rent from one little real-person coop unit owner: no big deal.

If you mean you rent from the Sponsor or an Investor or a Holder of Unsold Shares, often a business entity instead of a real person, you might have a black mark... but not on your official credit report.

In all cases: you might get a bad reference from this landlord and the eviction proceeding is a public record, accessible to anyone who looks up your name in the court's computer.

ps: of course, the reason the LL tries to evict and who wins make a difference.
