To answer your question, $1262 is the last registered rent before the complaint. When DHCR ruled against the landlord, the landlord was
ordered to lower the rent to the level it was before the last increase.

I'm going to call another attorney, one that advertises on the tenant.net site, and see what she has to say. It seems that the comments under
"overcharge" recommended getting an attorney and taking the landlord to court. I think I would feel much more comfortable having someone,
who is familiar with the rent laws handling this.
