landlord sold bld.owe rent

Posted by Joanna on September 14, 1999 at 08:59:44:

I have lived here for 15 yrs.In that time the
landlord as made it a living hell. He has been
antagonistic since I moved in.I was on section 8
and it was removed from him not I. Then I got a
new apt, he called up and started with the
new landlord, and I had to take all my stuff out
of new place, as I hadn't signed lease, I have had the city involved, and code enforcement. They
could not fix the floor (bath-room) that is falling into the basement, and the tub has been
cloggged for 7years,We take out the water with a
pail. Sink pipe is coming out of the wall. There
are many other matters here, no oven for 7 yrs.
I know he has now been trying to get me out
with a constructive eviction, and I stopped
paying him some time ago. With a new landlord
do I have the chance to pay him and have him
make repairs? I don't have the money to move.
this is critical to me, I ran out of a lease
years ago, and he would not renew, so I don't
have that. Can I be evicted, for the back ]
payment to him? Or must the new landlord accept
payment. I didn't know the bld. was sold until
today, and I am in great stress, I have children
and am just eking out a living. I cannot get the
money together to move. Please reply, Any help
will be great appreciated. Thank you for hearing
me out.
