So: you negotiated a clause/lease that you tell us your interpretation of twice, but different each time: why don't you type the real words from the lease? or go pay a lawyer to read them.

"the status of the building--the LL owns it outright": that's not an answer either: so is your apt stabilized? how is the landlady selling one apt at a time? co-op? condo? limited partners?
