In the lease, is there an option to renew? If so, does it say how and by when you have to exercise the option? Does the lease limit the landlord's right to show the property, such as, during the last six months of the lease?

It would seem that you should exercise the option to renew for a year. If you exercise the option and the landlord is limited to showing the property to the last few months of the lease, then the landlord should have no right to show it until that time period.

: Hi. I hope someone can help us with this
problem. We took out a lease with our landlord
Last September using a realtor. It was for one
year with the option of renting for a further
year.In May this year we spoke with her telling
her of our intentions to rent for the further
year. At the time she said that was okay. Two
weeks beforeour current lease is due to run out
she has sent us a "self written" lease for only 9 months instead of 12.She has also said that she
will be showing buyers around from February and
will only make an effort to inform us.The
question I want to ask is can we "force" her to
give us a year lease and limit the time she has
people visiting the house?I am sorry this is so
long but we do not know anything about leasing
laws in US.Thanks in advance.
