Cash for rent

Posted by Tasha on August 23, 1999 at 16:14:43:

Hello again,
Two questions:
I am still uncertain:
1)My new landlord came again and asked a neighbor for the rent.
He stated he wanted $80 more (right off the back!)
and he wanted the rent in cash,
he also stated to my neighbor:
"If you don't like it you can move"
now my question naturally is...is this legal?

2) At this point, early in his ownership should I start to keep a journal of the "activities" going one with my new landlord? I already sense that there is going to be problems. Would it be of any assistance in court?ex: Not so much hearsay but if I refused to pay in cash and start writing checks and he refuses to collect them.

By the way: I really have no interest in moving I've lived here since 1987
