If you haven't gotten the signed lease back, the LL could still back out of the deal.

: Where do you live? In New York, if only one person signs a lease, that person has a legal right to have immediate family, one roommate, plus the dependent children of the roommate live in the apartment. Most leases allow immediate family to live in the apartment.

: I would ignore the manager, not fill out the application, and not pay the fee.

:
: : My [then] future wife put our apartment in her name and paid
: : a $25 application and credit check fee, which is said to be non-refundable.
: : Within two weeks we were married and the manager wants me to do an
: : application also. The application asks for banks, account numbers, balance,
: : credit cards, automobiles and the insurance company. This is excessive.
: : Do I have to pay this fee and file an application when the lease is in my
: : wife's name? What is the point if I check out bad or good?
: : Thank you MATT
