It is SOP for landlords to hire private detectives to watch tenants' activities and speak to building staff and neighbors prior to commencing Non-Primary Residency, Illegal Sublet, or Succession Holdover eviction proceedings. They also get billing information, call tenants under assumed names, and (illegally) run credit checks.

Otherwise, how could they allege the tenants' lack of physical connection to the apartment? Oh! forgot! they could file a Petition full of false statements...
