If Pataki and the Senate (sounds like a bad rock band) get pushy, how willing will Shelly be to defend the Lofties. Will they get traded for budget item to be named later?

: : I haven't heard anything about a renewal of the loft law being put in place. How long can it stay dead before LLs can start refusing to renew leases.

: The Loft Law isn't really DEAD, any more than the rest of the state budget! Like other sunset laws & the budget, it is in limbo right now. Most likely, whenever they pass the budget, the Loft Law will be renewed, retroactively. I wouldn't worry about some landlord refusing to renew an individual lease: he would still have to evict through the courts. Even the normal court delays should be enough time for Albany to get off its collective duff.

: Apparently, the guys in Albany didn't think Mother Nature could make this into the longest, hottest summer all by herself!
