Rent Guidelines Effective October 1, 1999

Posted by Mark Smith on July 10, 1999 at 12:37:36:

I previously posted the two links below when I answered a question by Anna about vacancy allowances and the Rent Guidelines Board (RGB), but the message disappeared from both the June and July message boards.

When the rent laws were extended and amended in 1997, there was speculation that the RGB could or would impose vacancy increases over and above those provided in the law (20% for a two-year lease, and an additional 0.6% for each year since the apartment had received a vacancy increase, if the apartment had not received a vacancy increase in eight years). The RGB never imposed any additional vacancy increases. And for sublets between October 1, 1999 and September 30, 2000, the RGB eliminated the 5% surcharge that had been imposed for the prior year, October 1, 1998 through September 30, 1999.

The current Rent Guidelines Board orders, for lease renewals between October 1, 1999 and September 30, 2000 are:

Apartments and Lofts (Order #31):

Hotels, Rooming/Lodging Houses, SROs (Order #29):
