No A/C past 2 weeks HELP/ADVICE

Posted by Nancy on July 04, 1999 at 00:11:10:

Our entire bldg has had no a/c the past two weeks with the
average temp. being 90 and expected to go up higher all of
next week. Very high rent bldg. Its gone beyond tolerable at
this point. Landlord just says the system is broken and they're
waitinig for some part which will hopefully arrive by the end of
July.
Isn't there anything the tenants can do? Shouldn't the landlord
give a rent reduction for the intollerable living conditions?
Should we have a rent strike? How do we handle this? This
is effecting hundreds of people here who pay an average of
$3,000 and up for our apartments.
