Renew the lease with whatever the landlord states the correct increase to be. DHCR will determine the legal rent; not you, and not the landlord. Of course, DHCR moves like Patrick Ewing in the low post. Think of it as a vacation fund. After the dust settles, you'll get to enjoy the treble damages based on that little extra you're paying. -Moe
