If this was a commercial situation the landlord couls sue for all the rent for the unexpired time on the lease, if the place is not re-rented. However, since this is a residentail situation the landlord cannot sue for the unexpired term -- especially since the place has been re-rented. How is the landlord trying to get you to pay the 9 months rent; did they sue you, or just send you nasty letters???
