If his name is on the lease he is not a roommate, but a co-tenant. If he is not paying rent, living in Boston and not friends with you any more -- why would you think he would want to come back and live in the apartment with you? Can't think of a legal remedy, but a practical one is to change the locks and that may well be the end of your "roomate" problem. Godd luck!
