: I recently moved in to a condo in a 13 story building in South Florida. When we were shown the condo we were never told that it was above the massive AC unit and machine room. Now that it's warming up the noise comming up through the floor is terrible. It's a constant high pitched hum that vibrates through everything, even the bed. They have been working on the AC unit and It's gotten even louder. Is there some kind of law or regulation about disruptive noise levels in apartments. Before I go crazy from this noise and complain to the condo association I would like to find out what my rights are. Any help would be appreciated.

Here in NYC, we would contact the Dept of Environmental Control: there are laws controlling the decibel levels. But noise volume is probably less of a problem than the vibrations...

Did you read the Noise section on Tenant.Net??

Also: there was a fellow Floridian who created a website & message board: he wrote about it earlier this year. Try searching this forum with the words 'florida site link'.
